Matt is an avid surfer, trail runner, as well as subsistence user and has lived in Sitka for the past eight years. He grew up in northern Minnesota, graduating with a degree from St. Olaf in Social Studies Education. After teaching overseas in India and the Marshall Islands, he moved to Alaska with his now wife, Talia, and has two kids. He is currently the principal at Pacific High School. Matt is passionate about conservation, the outdoors, and working with students and youth in Sitka. Matt joined the board in July 2024.
