Do you thrive outside, igniting curiosity and adventure in others? Sitka Trail Works seeks a dynamic leader to join our second year of summer camps, empowering youth through place-based education, outdoor skills, and community stewardship. As the Youth Program Coordinator, you will be a catalyst for youth development in Sitka. 

About the Program: 

Our engaging Youth Program connects Sitkans ages 8-18 to the land, their creativity, and their potential. We guide curious minds through the Tongass, teaching practical skills that empower, and nurturing a love for nature that blossoms into stewardship. Students learn about traditional harvesting practices, respect for the land, and they contribute to maintenance of public trails and parks. Respect, joy, and creativity are our guiding values. 

Position Details: 

  • Dates: April-May (part-time, remote available), June-August (full-time), September (part-time wrap-up, remote available) 
  • Compensation: $22-25/hour 

Responsibilities & Highlights: 

  • Collaborate with the Program Director to craft curriculum with native plant knowledge, respect for Lingít Aaní, and art inspired by nature.  
  • Connect local experts to campers, sharing generations of knowledge. 
  • Lead engaging activities that make the land come alive for campers.  
  • Master essential skills while empowering others. Gain invaluable first aid, tool use, outdoor education, and trail building skills as you mentor young minds. 
  • With the Director’s support, manage day-to-day operations, maintain equipment, and ensure everyone feels safe and valued.
